Engine management probs

Bit of a long shot here and I appreciate I will have to get the fault code (s) looked at but was just wondering if anyone has had the following problem.
If I leave my Vectra 06 plate 2.2 auto idling for around ten minutes the fault light (Car with spanner through it) comes on. This also happens if I get stuck in slow/stationary traffic. After another five minutes or so after the car will die and cut out it will then not re-start until I have turned the ignition off and waited for a couple of minutes for it to re-set. The spanner light stays off for a few mins and then comes back on and it all happens again. If I don’t get stuck in any slow moving traffic then the light/fault doesn’t happen.

Read the fault codes. otherwise it could be loads of things!
