Default OK.... Tell me EXACTLY how to work CC?

As some of you know, i've had cruise control problems...

and unfortunately my CC seems now to work only every now and again.

I would like to know, exactly what i should be doing before trying to engage CC with regards to the ignition, brakes etc and whethe rCC will work in "slippery conditions"?

Cheers guys, this is causing me a ball-ache!

    Thom

just a guess but do you rest your foot on the clutch or brake pedal at all while driving? when either of these is slightly depressed the CC will not engage, apologies if you already are aware of this, just a suggestion..

The clutch return spring might need to be replaced, or the contacts in the cc stalk might need cleaning. Either or both can cause problems.
Does the CC work if you put your foot under the clutch pedel and lift it up, if so it sounds like it might be the return spring.

    cheers lads

as far as im aware im not touching anything, im wondering if it could be the switch itself being faulty?

whilst we're on, when it does work and i depress the clutch with CC on it doesnt disengage until i put the brake down too, the car revs up instead - could i have a problem?

Ive fitted the spring upgrade Ed mate (Y)

Thom, at least you have eliminated a possibility then. Maybe try cleaning the switch on the stalk. I am sure there is a how 2, or at least some information about it if you do a search.

If the car revs and cruise doesnt cut out, you most definately have a problem there. The clutch switch may be goosed.

Also, bear in mind the cruise will not work after starting the car if the brakes have not been used at least once. It makes sure your brakes work before it will allow cruise to activate, although in reality, all it checks is the current for the brake lights when you use them. Hope this helps.

    Hi, cheers mark

do the brakes need to be applied at any particular point before enagging CC such as before ignition is on but whilst electrics are on or similar?

This is far too complex for me!

In a normal driving situation, press the brake pedel, then the CC will be "activated" ( allowed to work) so to speak

Yep, just a quick press. Enough to put the brake lights on and your cruise will work (Should do lol)
