    Default Ebay woes !!!

Just after a few opinions guys , I sold an item on ebay a few week's back , and yesterday got a message from ebay informing me the buyer has opened a claim for non-delivery.
The item only stands me at a few quid , plus £1.70 postage.
The buyer put one of the reasons for the claim as I did not respond to their messages , ( I have not received any mesages from them )
Anyway now I have had a message from them asking for a full refund as they are snowed in and no mail deliveries at the moment.
So as it stands I lose the cost of the item plus postage , probably get neg feedback aswell , or do I stand my ground , as I'm positive they wil not return the item when it arrives eventually.
From what I can see , ebay are probably going to force me to refund , but I think it's unfair as the snow aint my problem !!!!!
    AAAARGGHH
It's not about the money , it's the principle .

One option is to allow the dispute to run its course.. Hopefully the item will finally get delivered (but a few weeks already passed, seems doubtful) and the buyer might then close the dispute before it gets as far as Ebay refunding straight out of your paypal account.. The risk here is though, you will most certainly get negative feedback.... If it was me, I would refund, apologise, lay the blame with royal mail, and wish your buyer all the best, in the hope they dont then feel the need to still leave negative feedback..

You say its the principal, but what if you was the buyer having paid and not received item, in principal you would also expect a refund without hassle or quibble..

Pain that you can't find receipt, if it went recorded and it wasn't received they should be able to trace where it went adrift.

This came up only a few days ago, sender sent it recorded, but lost reciept.

I have heard instances like this in the past, where the sender has gone to the post office in question, explained the situation. Using the day it was sent and an approx time, and the Post Code it was sent to (they put this on the reciept) they were able to re generate a reciept or at least tell you if the package had been signed for.

Its worth a go mate, you got nothing to loose trying this.

agree with the above we went back to local post office they wouldnt give the tracking number but they did check it for us and said it was being processed,a few days later they left feedback which was a sigh of relief as a friend posted it for us by recorded instead of special (£400 mobile phone ) lol

speaking to our postman yesterday he said the back log of post due to the weather was unbelieveable and said most post we wont see until after xmas
