Default So, keithsimmo just saved me 1200 pounds!

    Hey all

Just want to share a story about my local shop and my Vectra 1.9CDTi

This summer my Vectra started to judder between 1500-2000rpms, but it wasnt to serious, just randomly annoying.

It kept on doing it till this winter, where the judder started to increase.

It got worse and worse until i started it up, and it wouldnt take the gas nor run over 2500rpms.

It sounded and felt VERY serious, so i limbed in to my local workshop where i had a used car insurance.

They got the car a friday, and monday they told me they found a fault on the 3rd injector plug, but they had ordered a part for it. Cool i thought.

The following friday they called and said that the insurance didnt accept the fault, since it wasnt covered. Meh i thought, and asked how much it would cost to fix?

    They told me the following:

500 pound for diagnosing the fault (!!)
500 pound for the spare part (complete engine wiring, not just the plug)
    200 pound to install it.

I totally flipped, it was insane.

I then remembered the 3rd wiring DIY and saw that you could buy the plug seperatly, so i told the workshop to forget about it all, since i couldnt afford to get it fixed, and told them about the fix.

They told me they had used 500 pounds in diagnose, which i denied paying. It cant cost that much to diagnose a known fault :-S

The workshop owner then said they could make the car as it was when i delievered and i could come and get it the following day.

I ofc. accepted, bought the part at my Opel dealer, i installed it, and the car feels brand new!

The part cost 25 pounds here in DK, but there is a loooong way up to 1200 pounds!

So thanks for all the very usefull posts and insider knowledge, it saved me 1175 pounds!

Indeed in both of the above :-p

But again, i can ONLY advice all people to do the wiring fix, its not a matter of the plug, its a matter of the driven miles.

Mine had run 125000km when the problem started, and all my injector plugs are blue, so no matter if they are yellow or blue, the problem will occur at some time, at least thats my experience, and its always the 3rd plug it seems. So i can confirm that.

The field kit wires part number is 93189918 for 1 plug and i reckon 93189919 for all 4, just fyi.
