    Default thermostat replacement

Just done the thermostat on my cdti 120 WHAT A !!!! Big silver canister thingy in the way it’s took me all day, not an easy job. On the plus side heater nice and hot and the temp gage moves and hopefully a few more MPG.

Glad it's worked for you m8, will pay for itself in fuel in the long run.
Mine's booked in for Wednesday, i'll be sitting at home with a cuppa and a packet of rich tea while they get their hands dirty

For future reference of other 120 owners replacing the thermostat, the big silver thingy is the brake vacuum pump, its held by three ribe bolts (torx 50 will work) and its easier if you take it off. Gives tons of room to work on the stat, especially as you need to faf around with egr cooler to remove the stat. Dont forget to buy a new vac pump to cam housing gasket as the old one cant be reused successfully.

How long does yours take to get hot now in -4 temp?

Mine takes 7-8 miles to get to temp at that low temp but the heater is hot well before that so i suspect mine is ok.

That bit sounds very similar to doing the job on the Z20NET as well.

Don’t think it’s the vac pump as that sits above the thermostat. The thing I’m talking about has metal pipes going to it from the exhaust manifold and is under the stat. The problem is getting the bottom bolt out.
