Afaik the ECU does all thisyou could take lead off battery and when EGR is fitted it should relearn

I've not heard that before. Maybe they mean the ecu needs reseting which I think can be done by disconnecting the battery for 30 mins.
nice one cheers guys just trying to pull a fast one dickhead receptionists.
There are software fixes on the earlier cars for EGR related issues:
http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...oftware+update
But I don't think there are any for the new design EGR valves
i didnt do nothing as soon as i put a new one on the car was 100%..
There maybe talking about plugging it into reset the fault light or do a software update.
There have been a number of part supersessions to the EGR valves, ALL are backwards compatible with any software installed. However you may find that driveability is improved with a software update, I found the throttle a bit more responsive lower in the rev range when I did mine in Oct.
most manufacturers on replacing with new egr valves are completing a Tune/download to the engine management ecu which includes a fuel pump and Pilot learn to prevent repeats of the initial failures
