    Default vectra c temp

hi can anyone help, ive got a 2008 vectra cdti sri and the temp gauge never moves, it doesn't seem to warm up. I could drive it all day and it will not go to normal operating temp, does anybody know what this could be?

Mine the same a diesel 08 will get to normal temp after a run today as the temp was 2 c, But when -4 it takes much longer & the heater is nice and hot before the temp moves this seems normal with these cars.

However if your does not move a new temp sensor or gauge maybe required, or if heater is cooler a new thermostat.

Seems to be a common problem as there's been a couple of threads on this recently, might be worth looking at these

Hope you get it sorted, it is annoying especially this weather!

This post subject is coming time n time again, might be a case for a sticky,in the 3 years iv'e been here never seen as many temp gauge threads ,now the tempretures are phenomenally low and this is the cause in many of the cases,so you either live with it ,or change the thermostat so the car warms up quicker..hope this helps you..ps if you need more detail do a search.

you need to change the thermostat bud i had the same problem as you. i changed the thermostat and now the car after about 5 miles warms up properly and the gauge sits on 85 the heaters are fantastic and the fuel consumption is better too

No don't jump into a new thermostat just yet as your diesel maybe just normal as these do take a while to get hot unlike the petrol which is much faster.

And at the silly price they are it's not worth spending silly money if this will not cure your fault.

If you could drive it all day and it never moves and if your heater is pretty poor, it's the thermostat, no doubt about it.

Yet its been proven that a new thermostat on a 1.9 diesel does indeed bring the temp gauge up to the correct temp even running around town...........................
