    Default Throttle body help!

Just taken off my TB to clean it, it's come up lovely with a load of carb cleaner.

I've noticed that the butterfly plate doesn't fully close by itself, it's partially open and takes a little pressure to shut it fully. It springs back open when you let go.

    Is this normal?

It should spring open fine. When you switch the engine off the valve will close over to limit the 'shudder' on switch off.

As for it not fully closing over, this would be normal if it didn't have an idle bypass but I don't know if that is the case with yours.

dont know about the 1.8 but the cdti with ignition off the flap will be fully open, you can push it closed (spring loaded) fully but its firm.
