    Default 3.0CDTI - want one!

Hey all! I’m thinking of middle of next year chopping my 2002 2.2dti hatchback in for a 2004ish 3.0 V6 CDTI estate. The estate comes from buying a dog recently and looking to pump out a second child end of next year too. I’m probably gonna look for an Elite just for the sake of having leather . My main concern though before making a jump like that is the fuel consumption. My DTI gets about 43/44mpg (me working it out at the pump), I’ve seen on here the V6 getting more like 36mpg, as I do approx. 20k a year that would equate to quite a bit. Has anyone got any good figures to sway me??

I’m trying to avoid the 1.9 CDTI [150] as I believe the V6 to be more reliable (and I want a V6 next lol), am I anywhere near right in that assumption?? But I do want a diesel with more power than mine now!

Also what’s the external differences between SRI & Elite estates as I have only noticed the alloys (ie the front bumper is the same??) I’m not keen on the rear end (oo-er missus ) so anyone got any pics of mods to their rears to give me ideas???

    Thanks for now!

Why not consider the signum , my V6 is great and I have a rottie who goes in mine every day. I think with a irmy boot spoiler , quad exhausts and irmy apron it looks quite cool still.

After almost 25k since March this year I can tell you the V6CDTi is a great lump for cruising on the motorway. HOWEVER, it absolutely hates eco-drives. These lead to heavy smoke, juddering and all sorts of annoying symptoms that would make you believe your car is broken. All in all it's a great engine that returns surprisingly good mpg figures even under high load. I got an amazing 26mpg driving 125-140mph in Germany!!! With my heavy foot on the motorway it returns about 38mpg. I think around town I would get low 30's.

This is my second Signum 3.0CDTi and is totally reliable at 125k miles, the first one being an unreliable high mileage (167k when sold) crap-car. With the old one I kept getting 50mpg because I never put my foot down

Thanks for the replies guys! Seems you can get decent mpg from the V6 - albeit with a BLAST now and then to clear it out

Anyone got any pics of a tidied up rear end of an estate? Been looking at spoilers on ebay just to "finish it off" in my mind.

The v6 likes to be driven hard. I used to gain 3 or 4 mpg after I had driven to Italy.
