Traction control question?

When my car wheel spins(alot recently on the ice) the traction control light comes on cuts the power as it should but the gearbox/final drive makes a hell of a noise as if something is jumping, is this normal or is something on the way out. the car has always done this, but i've noticed it more over the last week in the snow.

More likely is the ABS pump is kicking in in conjunction with the TC to reduce wheel spin by applying the brakes to the wheel that is spinning.

Mine does not make any noise at all so that doesn't sound 'normal' to me!

yes i asked the same question last year its just the traction control working..
