    Default Alternative tyre sizes

is it right that 215/50 17 is an odd size and that is why they are expensive ?
i am sure i have read that there is another size i could use without any tech 2 alterations. can any one tell me this size please ? and the price difference between the two. cheers

iirc the alternative size is 225/45 R17, with regard to the price difference its hard to say as with anything if you shop around you shall find a bargain. I bought my tyres off here http://ssl.delti.com/mytires/start.html Remember though keep the speed index and load rating the same as your originals just to ensure you have no problems with your insurers should the worst happen

I had 225/45`s on the vec, they were spot on, and from behind looked much better as they filled the arch out a bit more ...
Another couple of links as well for good measure ..

    www.mytyres.co.uk very cheap ..
    www.blackcircles.com cheap as well ...

I've just had 225/45/17's fitted today. Will I need different tyre pressures from those recommended for 215's?
