Default Clutch problem and 50000 mile service cost

    Hi
What sort of price should i expect to pay for a 50000 mile service?
Also, my engine has started to make a noise as it is around the biting point on the clutch, someone told me it’s going to be the race baring.
When i asked my local stealer for a price, they kind of told me they can’t give me a price as they don’t know until they have take the gearbox off. I said i needed a clue of what sort of cost were talking and they told me around 1200 but could be more depending on what they find.
Is this going to just die on me or could this last a while? As it’s so close to Xmas i don’t have that kind of money available to me at the moment.
    Thanks in advance

Sounds like the Dual Mass Flywheel is away, £1200 sounds about right, did that include a new clutch and slave too? As for servicing, well it all depends on if its been serviced on time and/or at the correct intervals. Expect around £200 for a basic oil and filter service from a VX dealer.

Diesel service intervals are every 20k so it should be good for another 10k miles yet I'd imagine?

it missed its last service due to cash flow at the time, It was off the road for 6 months after i had surgry on my foot.
Another 10k maybe, sounds good to me, gives me time to get the cash together.
Dont do it all the time though, seems to do it more when its cold, just noticed it more with the weather were having.

    Thanks for your help

If its missed its last service and you want to save money, you could just do it yourself? oil, oil filter, pollen filter, coolant top up if needed, check tyre pressures. Jobs a good-un. If youre feeling brave fuel filter too.

******, is that all they are going to do for 275 i was quoted?
I did the oil,oil filter and pollen filter in the summer this year.
Coolant is fine and just folked out for 4 new tyers last week.
Think i am covered there then.

When i asked they guy what that covered, he said it covered lots of things, but only named the few that you have. LOL

See why they get called stealers most of the time.

Just looking about the the dual mass flyweel problem at the moment, Seems a little too common to not be a recall apart from the cost...
