    Default economy

Hello, Just thought I'd ask to see what anyone with a 2.0 DTI is getting to the gallon on a motorway commute. Until recently I was driving a 2.2 DTi Saab 9-3, 5 speed (pretty much Vectra running gear) and getting 55-57MPG on my 130 miles/ day commute down the M6 and M1 from Birmingham to Milton Keynes. now I have bought the 2.0 DTi and despite the data sites I looked at before buying it, that all suggested at a constant mootrway 75 I should be getting a bit more from the 2.0 than the 2.2, I'm not. the 2.0 struggles to do more than 48. The Saab had 100K on the clock, and the Signum has 119K, and both drive well. ( although the 2.0 is a bit slow to be honest) any thoughts? And would a re-map chip help economy?

If you getting 48 on a motorway run that is pretty good going for a 2.0 DTi . i travelled up to lancashire and back on saturday and three up it averaged 44 which i thought was good especially with the temperatures at the moment
Rechipping a dti is possible but not really cost effective
    Driving vauxhall,s for 30 + years

I looked into chipping or remapping my 2.2 DTI but you're looking at over £400 to gain about 30bhp which makes tuning the DTI's very expensive.

I'd agree with bobssignum that 48mpg is pretty good. When the weather warms up again it'll probably go up to 51-52

    OK Chaps, thanks.
From a cost effective point of view, I reckon that on my 650+ Miles a week, I'll be looking at a fuel bill of £76-78 a week, So If I could possibly get that up to 53 ( God knows how) I'd break even after 12 months. I still have to do the usual +3-4 psi in the tyres, and strip out all of the un-wanted clutter from the boot etc.

    I'll keep you posted.

1 more question, What's the general feel for Cruise control, Is it better for Economy or worse?

i recently did a trip to liverpool 175miles from my house and averaged 56/7mpg doing 65 most of the way with the cruise controle on most of the way. in a 2.0dti signum.

One tip i can give you mate is if you use supermarket diesel try a couple of tanks for shell diesel as i get a far better mpg when using shell than using supermarket diesel.

went out yesterday in the snow and averaged 48mpg in 86mile trip.
