    Default Confused, Help!

    Hi guys,

My tyre had a nail through it near to the sidewall, which meant its not repairable, I went online and bought FK452 - 215/35R19 85Z XL TL in a rush...

A load rating of "85" allows for 515kg per tyre, so 2060kg for the whole car. Convention is that the combined weight rating for all 4 tyres should exceed the weight of the car by 25%, to allow for uneven weight distribution or extra forces applied to one or two tyres during braking or cornering. Now you need to work out the weight of your car plus people/luggage plus 25%.

    Thanks for the insight Jezzy,

Im getting different values for the weight of a Vectra C 2.0 DTI , using values from www.new-car-model.com

Curb Weight MT (kg)1503Curb Weight AT (kg)1985

MT I assume is normal weight, and AT is maximum weight... Assuming max weight of 1985 KG + 25 % gives 2481.25 sadly looks like im shafted... the tyres are XL so maybe i could get away with it?

I'd say that "MT" is Manual Transmission and "AT" is Automatic Transmission, And I think that an Auto box could be heavier than the Manual equivilent but I could be wrong..

Not sure if the auto boxes are 400kg heavier though

If you bought them online then the distance seller rules apply. Simply send them back. It will cost you the shipping but at least you won't be stuck with useless tyres

I bought the tyres off Camskill recommended from this forum, so i suppose i could send them back but its the hassle and more the time delay... im driving around in a slow puncture on the M6 and M60 for the time being!!

Big-Pete even when i read it AT and MT did seem to be manual and automatic.. but i didnt want to suggest that lol

Did they state it couldn't be repaired? My wife had similar on a all but new Dunlop sports recently, they told us it could be repaired by a specialist for £25 as it was a major repair, had no troubble with it since.
