Default Upgrading to a VXR is it worth it?

As the title states. I have an 09 plate Insignia Exclusive with sat nav & parking sensors 2.0 cdti 160 version. I am considering upgrading to the VXR....

Yes the car is faster, has larger alloys, has leather bucket seats etc but is the upgrade worth the fee?

What are your thoughts as I will probably be looking at £10,000 extra for a 10 plate as an estimation.

    Thanks guys.

Can you support (or disapprove) the upgrade with some information please? Just not sure if its worth it?

    £1100 - £1200 for a new set of tyres on 20" rims
    £425 - Road Tax
250-300 miles per tank on 99 RON fuel
    Massive depreciation over 3 years

    325 BHP and 4x4 fun

I'd have one, just make sure you can afford the running costs once you've bought it... and dont put cheap tyres or fuel in it

    Have fun

As others have said.... Once the novelty has gone are you going to enjoy getting 300 miles to £70 of fuel and paying a fortune for road tax and tyres?

It will get through tyres a lot quicker with 350 bhp than a 160 diesel!

However they look and sound amazing so the novelty will be there for a while

How many miles a year do you drive?

I know from past cars that did 15mpg "escort cosworth" on a good day that after a year I could not stomach the running costs although a lot of fun

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Tyre prices for the 20" Wheels are coming down all the time. Yes the Tax is higher, but enough to cope with.

But the drive of the VXR over the normal Insignia is far superior. If you can afford it then why not. They are a great car and can be driven just as gently as a diesel Insignia.

But saying that...............................A friend of mine has just bought a Mercedes CLK 55 AMG (5.5 V8 Supercharged) 400bhp and the sound of a Spitfire, on an 56 plate with 23000 miles on it for £19995!

No comparison and the CLK will depreciate less. Also for the same money your talking about for the VXR, you could get a facelift Audi S4 4.2 V8 FSi on an 07/08 plate! Better on fuel than the VXR as well.
