Default How is your Vectra in these conditions?!

Drove from home (Tain) to Mintlaw yesterday, on the A9, A96, A98 and then the road through New Pitsligo. About 130 miles but took about 6 and a half hours due to conditions.

Lots of snow, lots of it hard compacted, lots of slush, lots of ice and lots of idiots who have no clue about how to drive on snow. And barely a gritter in sight.

Came across a good few cars who managed to get stuck on hills, their method of trying to get moving was to nail it and burn their way through!!

Not once did I have an arse twitcher or get stuck so is this down to the Vectra being a good car in snow or superior / good driving technique? Not looking for praise as I am sure there's lots of people on here who can do the same or better!!

So, how good is your Vectra in snow!!??

On a side note, was behind an Insignia VXR for a few miles, he looked like he was having a blast with that snow drive thingy they have!!

WELL,,,my 1.8 is worst car I have ever driven in the snow and ice, and I have driven through 43 winters, had my first bump ever in january in the snow,,, HOWEVER I am now thinking that my tyres Falken 912s are to blame they are a good tyre UNTIL the temp drops below 5 degrees then no grip. did a swap to day as I felt the front slide on dry ish slightly damp roundabout, swaped to my mates 1.8 on contis and it was like driving a different car.

i found mine performed well, did a 212 mile drive at 6 yesterday morning, and returned around 11 last night, and it took me about 5 hours compared to normal 3 1/2 hrs, traction control made a hell of a differenc, had the light flashing on a couple of times!

Got Dunlops on the front of mine, sportmax os something.

Only time the TC was flashing was when I was playing on flat straight roads - spinning from 1k revs in 4th is great!

Need to go see about some decent tyres for the front of the Tigra tomorrow - Conti Sport are crap in the snow!!

Had to laugh at the drivers who were lighting up the front wheels to get moving!

Havent had any real bad snow down here in this batch yet, but the last bad snow we had last winter I had several times where I just crawled up an icy hill past cars that were sitting there with their wheels spinning. Never had any issues with either of my Vec C's in bad weather.

Most of it is how you drive it though to be honest, revving the nuts off it and spinning the wheels is always just going to make the car go all over the place and not get where you want. Low gear, low revs and slow gets there every time

I think it may just be the light petrol engined cars that aren't soo good in the snow.

Not sure how good mine is this year as it's too deep to get it out of the drive, the runabout punto I have is quite good though (small engine, thin tyres and not much body weight)
