Default winter tyre prices are up

Have been thinking of getting some myself, just been looking again on mytyres.co.uk, they have put all winter tyres up around £50 each this weekend

It's not surprising that they are profiteering at this time as panic buying sets in among the masses. I still check ebay and find them to offer better rates at the moment

These things happen. Im travelling with a mate how has put winter tyres on the front of his Primera, we came out of work this morning to be greeted with 6 inches of snow and single track snow covered slushy roads out of Edinburgh and all the way home, the levels of grip are absolutely amazing. ABS never kicked in once, no slipping or sliding and believe me he was going a bit faster than I thought was safe too. He did a "spirited" start from a set of lights and the traction was very impressive.

    Default Winter Tyres

I spent a week in Sweden last Feb with my son, had around 12" snow a day with -10 to -15ºc.

Drove around in his BMW 530 auto with no problem. I am convinced winter tyres are the way forward.

Did not encounter any steep hills though.

Mine are on order. I also noticed mytyres prices jumped £50.

Sadly tyre suppliers are like this. Not tried buying winter tyres, but back in Spring when I was planning our trip with the caravan to Cornwall, I decided I wanted a spare wheel for the caravan. Bough the actual wheel with no problem, but found it extremely difficult to get a tyre of the right size and rating. Several tyre places told me that the type of tyre does not exist, despite the fact that there are 2 of them on my 2 year old caravan. Ended up getting one sent over from a tyre place in Birmingham!
