    Try this,

As far as I have learned it is self adjusting this explains how others carry that process out.

When you put the new pads in did you press the footbrake pedel first?? As in doing so it will take up the "slack" in the pads after refitting. If you pull the handbrake lever first it will take up the slack instead, and may loose the "auto" adjustment on the handbrake.

Handbrake is self adjusting so if you have already done the adjusting procedure you have a few options

    try the adjusting procedure again

handbrake cable could have stretched - replace

handbrake self adjuster slipping - replace handbrake assembly (expensive)

    Good luck

The recall replaces a spring so your handbrake doesnt come off on its own - i'd get it done and see if the mechanic can suggest a way of adjusting the handbrake

Search for "handbrake recall" on here. Already a couple of threads on it plus loads from when it was first discovered. Its about it releasing itself, nothing to do with adjustment etc.
