Thumbs up VECTRA "B",ODOMETER BULB CHANGE.Is it difficult?.

The bulb has gone out on my son's Vectra "B's" odometer and he can't read the mileage. Not that it's a problem in itself, but he's a bit worried that it may be an issue when his MOT comes round again. Are they difficult to change and how do you go about it?.Thank's in advance. FELIXX.

nah, its a little fiddly but nothing to be scared off, I did one early last year on one of mine.. I picked up a spare bulb from a scrappy near me as most have the clocks ripped open and the bulbs available.. took me less than an hour..

hmm good question.. i can hardly remember.. i think i removed the steering wheel suuround and then that revealed the plastics that surround the dash and vents, the clocks i think were held in with a couple of screws and then just pulled out..

I helped a mate do one a couple of years ago. Had to remove the steering wheel (it had the non-adjusting one, so could not pull forward/down) to get to the surround. Then removed the surround, then the clocks themselves. Took about an hour to remove everything.

HINT --- Change all the bulbs while you have it off!!

Had to get a certain tool from VX to remove the steering wheel.

Took about 20 mins to put back together.

    Hope this helps!

Thank's for that,I was going to do it for him,(thought it would be a quick job, isn't it true when they say ignorance is bliss),but under the circumstances he can do it himself!!!!!!. FELIXX.

When I had my Vectra B, I've changed all the bulbs with blue led's and I followed something close to the how 2 posted by Big Dave here. And no, you don't need to take the steering wheel off. But be careful not to break the lower plastic bits when you take the speedo out (I did). Adrian

Did this a million time on my old Vec B's - never removed the steering wheel. The hardest part was removing the dash vents I found, after that it was plain sailing really...
