Sounds like the thermostat is stuck open.
Will it damage engine much if left?
mines the same m8 remember the air temp is much lower than normal
turn off your heater and it will quickly rise above 80
mines usually around there but i put it to weather if i gave it a few gears it will reach 90 no probs..
i drove from work last night it was -7 an the temp didnt move it was an 8 mile journey mostly up hill... but it blows warm air after afew mins...
Ok I'll try turning heater down and see what happens. Is there a how2 for changing stat and how much does anyone know?
Mine is seriously struggling to get above 80c now... I have to drive it hard to get it there. If you have the heaters on anything above fan 1 then no hope!
Stat stuck open?! Or is this just a very cool running engine?! Late 2008 CDTi 150...
I've changed the thermostat about a year ago for the same reasons, temp guage was below 80 deg most of the time, and was very good (around 88 deg) until about 1 month ago when it started to drop at around 80 again... are they only supposed to last for 12 months?! does anyone know of a good thermostat manufacturer/brand?
