Winter tyre sizes

Could somebody tell me can I put tyres 225/50/17 on my vectra if i'm using 215/50/17? Basicaly can i replace 215 with 225's??

Need to buy some winter tyres and 225's are much more cheaper then 215 dont know why...

yes although speedo will be out slightly, unless you drop profile to 45, ie. 225/45/17 as i fitted to my vec yesterday

yes no problem as said it will make your speedo 1.6% SLOW, that is 1mph at 60mph,, what winter tyres are you getting?

It makes no real difference moving 225/50 and 225/45 both make the speedo reading out about 2.06%

However with winter tyres the speed reading is not exactly top concern though

Just looked at my book, apparently i cant use the same size of winter tyres,as my summer ones which are 215/50/17's i imagine you can't use 215's either.

I think narrow is the way to go, 205/ 195s with winter tyres.

Im running on standard size mud and snow tyres 225/45w18 and diffrence is huge- i recommend to all to upgrade for the winter . Lat year my car was terrible in snow

Yep I've done the same 2 lassa snowways and they are superb!! I couldn't get grip last year on my toyos, I haven't spun up yet on these lassas. The best £190 I've ever spent

could i drop my wheel size to 16", after a set of steels for the winter. What size tyre wound fit a 16" rim the best as i normally run on 215/50/17.
