Default Advice needed on my tyre choice

Hi all and sorry, yep its another "what tyre" post

My aging NCT's 3 mm rear, 2mm front need to be replaced.

They are 215/50/17 but im looking at 225/45/17 for replacements.

My Budget is a 100 quid each corner.

I have seen some tyres I like from Bridgestone and Avon.

    http://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/ts/sea...de=2254517AV1Y

I do around 2,000 miles a month traveling to and from work

Could anyone give me their ideas as to which to choose from or if you know of any other tyre that would be better that fits in my budget.

    Info would be much appreciated

    Thanks all

Have you considered Kumhos. See my reply to a6lns thread.
£95 per corner on etyres so can probably get em cheaper if you shop around.

Due to the time of year and the fact that they are one of the best all-season tyres, perform better then most in the winter and a pretty good summer tyre.

or if you must have a summer tyre the uniroyal rainsport 2

or be as safe as you can be and buy nearly new winter tyres on ebay

imo The bridgestone is a good tyre but is a bit noisy and not so great in winter, the avon is a good midrange tyre but below the overall standard of the uniroyal/bridgestone/Vredestein

£100 per tyre, I pay that for Good Year Assymetric 225/45R17 94Y XL including fitting

My main concern would be why is there 2mm on the front, but only 3mm on the rear?
Did you rotate the tyres at some point?
When I replace the front tyres with 2mm on them, there is usually at least 5mm on the rear

    Hi Fastb'd

Sorry could not find your reply to that thread. I have heard of these from this forum. I thought they were a budget tyre but at that price Im sure im wrong. I take it you rate these quite high then ?

    Hi M8internet

I bought the car in May this year and the tyre wear seemed to be slightly less on the rear than the front. I don't know the history of theses tyres but they could have been rotated at some point before I bought her.

Thanks for the tyre plug. I will add these to my slowly growing browsing list.

Thanks Wolflinn for your comment. I did think about winter tyres but to be honest if the weather is too bad my bosses are fine for me to work from home. Thanks for the link though. They are on the list also. I suspect I may have made my tyre search a bit harder for myself but all this info is really helpfull

EDIT : Thanks also for the above post. Saw it when I posted my last reply. Makes interesting reading. I wonder what the tyre wear is like ?
