3.0 V6 Engine 'Rumble'

I have a 3.0 V6 estate and have noticed recently that sometimes when I stop at lights or in traffic the engine develops a very deep rumble sound and the car vibrates up and down a bit. No warning lights come on or anything but I have noticed the rev counter increases a bit but the engine speed appears to stay the same. Anyone got any ideas on what it is

At times the loading on the engine does cause the idle to seem stressed but it will return to normal I noticed it with the engine when it was very cold from a start and all the heating and fans are on etc

The car is stationery and is bouncing up and down?!?
What is the clutch like?
What are the revs on idle?

Could be the DPF doing a regen - it causes those symptoms...

Clutch is fine and revs at idle are about 700

It happened again today then the engine electronics light came on and it went into limp mode. Lost power and could only do about 30mph. Got to work and started it up later and it was fine but will keep you posted.
