    Default Automatic lighting

Anyone got automatic headlight lighting as fitted to the facelift Vectra's

Mine comes on OK but seems to take ages for the headlights to switch off again. As its only 7 months old is this adjustable via TECH 2 if so will get it back to the dealer.

Also any one with climate control getting noise from the heater as the vents close in auto mode.

Mine has auto lighting, its odd sometimes as it comes on early evening when there is still plenty of light, always just after 7pm but sometimes does not come on in murky weather when the light is low. Sometimes it comes on and does not switch off for ages even though the light is good.

I have automatic lighting, it does come on instantly but does take a while to switch off, I personally think this is by design ... if the lights switched off as soon as it detected light above a certain threshold then it would look like you are flashing your lights as your drive under bridges.

As for the noise in the climate, I sometimes can hear a sound from the actuator but only if I listen closely.

    Hi,
As far as your lights are concerned : -

Check your "door to door" settings ie the setting that keeps the headlights on until - theoretically - you get from the car to your front door. This option can be turned off so that the lights turn off as soon as you turn them off.

    Cheers,
    John C

John - Door to Door lighting only works if you pull the headlight flash stalk with the drivers door open and egine off on the Vec AFAIK

Well its been to the dealer apears to be a problem with the sensor. They have never replaced one before and think its bonded to the screen with the rain sensor.

Guy said they may have to replace the screen as well, but not to worry thats down to Vauxhall.

    What fun

Interesting stuff, let us know if you notice any difference when it's replaced. The rain sensor is actually clipped onto a plastic bracket which is bonded ono the screen (I went through two windscreens in my last vec elite and watched the Autoglass bod fit them). It's actually dead quick to get off, the housing around the rear view mirror unclips one side at a time and then the rear view mirror slides up out of the bracket ... behind the rain sensor does the same. My last Vec didn't have auto headlights but it did have an auto dimming rear view mirror which has two light sensors as part of it's housing (one at the back and one at the front so it can take a reading of the difference between outside light and the light being shone at the glass part of it) ... I assumed it would use the light sensor on the front of the mirror for the auto head lights too but maybe I'm wrong?

No the auto light function is not in the mirror its 3 sensors facing out of the screen right next to the rain sensor. It makes sense that it should clip out and just be replaced.

Well thats down to the dealer to sort.

With regards to the climate control question i can hear at times noises from behind the dash when the vents are moving, sounds like little tapping noises.
