    Default New problem.

The car (1.9cdti 150) broke down on me yesterday. Loadsa noise and no power.
Got towed to a garage and popped in today to find out the crack.

Looks like i've lost some tension off the cambelt. The fuel pump pulley looks loose (as if the pump has broken inside). And possibly jumped a tooth.

They are going to fit a cambelt kit and get it timed up, then they'll be able to see if the fuel pump is bust.

    Anyone had similar experience?

Ironically i was on my way to the garage to book in for a service, Mot, cambelt and waterpump kit.

Recently there have been several cases of the fuel pump pulley being cracked - maybe that is why yours appears loose - otherwise cam belt failure is almost always the water pump failing and throwing the belt off or at least jumping teeth.
Not much you can do until it's apart, fortunately quite easy to do. As it has jumped it is important that the garage use timing tools as it is easy to be one tooth out when refitting.

Yeah, that's what they're waiting for, the cam timing tool. I'll ask them to check the fuel pump pulley for cracks tomorrow when they're open. Cheers mozzer.
