    Default Cold battery voltage? - 1.9CDTi 16v

Would those with a 1.9CDTi and CD70 please go into test mode tomorrow and on the second page you have a voltage reading top right of screen. I'd be interested to know what they show. Mine was 11.5v this morning before I started her up - think this is a bit low.

Please do this BEFORE you turn the car over. Thanks

(test mode accessible on CD70 by pressing 'main' button, then pressing and holding 'settings' for 5 seconds. you'll hear a aircraft cabin style 'bong' then pressing 'BC' will cycle through screens of useful/useless data.)

That does seem a little low. If your battery is on the way out, I remember reading something a while ago for leaving your lights and hi-beams on for half a minute or so before starting to 'wake up' the battery. I'll have to do mine with a multi-meter when I get round to it.

12.3V, temp -0.5 C. Terminator eye is green.

If approx 14V when running with high electrical load (e.g main beam & fan no4 & rear demist) then generator is OK.

...and this morning the display reported 11.4v before I turned it over.

Left the car stationary but running and put front and rear demister on to clear screens. A minute later the battery light came on. I left it about 5 minutes and voltage had increased to 13.7v. As soon as I drove off it went back up to ~14.2v.

Fairly confident the battery shouldn't have drained to just 11.4v overnight. Unless something is sapping power excessively overnight, then I'd say my battery was kapput!
