my 1.8 started first time all last year, temp down to minus 14 one night,, but this is the worst car (including rear wheel drive) I have ever owned in snow and ice, I think its because,1, wide tyres,2, not enough weight in the 1.8 on the front,3 FALKEN, 912 Tyres? its minus 5.5 this morning, first time start.
My 1.9 CDTi (150) starts just as well in the cold (-5) as it did in the summer as long as I wait for the glow plug light to go out. In general however the Vectra takes longer to start than any car I have previously owned (including other diesels). It never instantly starts, the starter motor always has to turn it over a few times before it fires up, where as my Mondeo's would always instantly start.
This morning was the first time I have driven in snow and last night the first time on ice in the Vectra, so far it seemsed just as under control as the Mondeo did, but this was just a skiff of snow, nothing like what we seen last winter, so time will tell.
My cdti 150 splutters a bit when u first start it in the cold
mine starts on the button every morning whatever the weather throws at it
My 2.2 Direct was really lumpy when I started it this morning. Didnt think it was going to be driveable, as normally it is really sweet even when started from cold.
However, after a few yards it was fine and revving away freely again.
Mine (1.8vvt) started great this morning, no bother, although it's developing a nasty habit of losing the power steering until the engine has warmed up a bit ?!
Mines a 1.9 cdti and starts first turn of the key even this morning when it was freezing
