    Default Kangeroo fuel

    Hi folks,

My 2.0 Dti (03 plate) has suddenly begun to stutter. It bounces up the road like it's on kangeroo fuel.

Initial thoughts were intercooler pipes as I'd had one go before and a large split was found in the LH one by the battery and a small one in the RH one.

I've replaced both but the problem remains.

When revving on the drive there seems to be a bit of a rattle coming from around the EGR area.

Nothing lighting up on the dash - no spanners or anything!

Just discovered that the fuel light had begun flashing for about 10 miles before being able to fill up and the problem started about half a mile afterwards. It's a well used fuel station with high volume fuel turnover, so I wouldn't imagine a problem with the fuel.

    Any suggestions very welcome!

    Jeff.

I should add that I meant no problem with the fuel 'quality'.

Could be water in the fuel, drain the fuel filter out and fit a new one. I think there's a nut to undo on the bottom of the canister to let the water out. If you were down to the flashing fuel light it basically means FEED ME NOW I'm almost empty.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll give that a try.

I know about the flashing light warning, but unfortunately got caught out by the 'no cash or cards' problem!

Well, tried to drain the filter and all I got was a load of gurgling and nothing coming out. Took a while to start and won't keep running.

Tried to let water out again, more gurgling and nothing.

Gurgling suggests air to me. Maybe I should try bleeding?

Dti engines. Unfortunately if you have emptied the fuel filter in the engine bay then you have to prime them as they have no electric pump in the tank.
The diesel injector pump has to pull the fuel through the filter from the tank if the is air in it you could damage the pump .

Replaced fuel filter, topped up filter with DERV, cleaned the boost sensor which looked like a half chewed black fruit pastille, bled off and off she went!

    Thanks guys, good work!
