Servicing info wanted please

Hi all
My car is a Vectra c DTI sri 1,9 150
what i would like to know is what oil and what make of oil people use
also what kind of job is it to do the oil and fuel filters
We use Millers oil at work for our vehicles Diesel engines would that oil be ok to use ?

As long as the oil meets or exceeds GM-LL-B-025 (as its a diesel) and is SAE 5W-30
then it will be fine. What should be done will be listed in the service book somewhere as it depends on the mileage/age of the car.

Every 12mths/20K replace oil and filter, drain water from diesel filter
Every 24mths/20K replace pollen filter
Every 48mths/40K replace air filter and diesel filter
Every 24mths regardless of mileage replace brake fluid
Every 60mths regardless of mileage change anti freeze

In reality I change oil and filter every 6mths/10K
Air and pollen filters 12mths/20k
Fuel filter 24mths/40K
Brake fluid every 2 years.

Oil filter is awkward even on a ramp, requires 32mm socket and sits at the rear of the engine low down.
Diesel filter can be fun...Pain to get out of the crash box and the lid can be tight, see how 2 section. On the plus side it has a 'lift pump' so no problems with bleeding the system afterwards.

Ignore what Castol suggest. Vauxhall recommend that you use 5w/30 long life fully synth oil in ALL Vectra-C engines.

Cant imagine why Castrol would recommend one of their own oils!!!!

Manufacturers and oil companies spend a lot of time developing oils.
Indeed there are at least 10 different 5W30 fully synthetic oils.
Exact ingredients depend upon SAPS properties, long life ability, fuel economy etc.
Oils that meet the GM spec have been approved for use specifically within Vx engines to meet the design requirements.
Gone are the days of one drum of oil suits all cars.
