Default Tyres / wheels... a few questions

    Hi Chaps,

    Got a couple of questions:

    1) I'm intending on checking my tyre pressure, the car is new so I'm not sure what it should be set to, and to be honest I'm struggling to tell from the manual. I've been on a few sites that ask you to put in your number plate and they tell you what the psi should be, example below:

    http://www.kwik-fit.com/tyre-pressure-search.asp

They all tell me they should be 41 psi, does that sound about right? ('04 Vectra 1.9 CDTi SRi 150)

    2) I'll be looking at getting some new wheels / tyres soon, current wheels are 17", will 18" and 19" fit ok on the Vectra? Will be probably be looking at 18".

Also regarding tyre sizes, I'm under the impression 225/40/18 or 235/40/18 would be about the right tyres to go for on 18", is this right? And would both of those sizes be ok?

You can fit upto 20" wheels on to a Vectra no problem so the sizes you mention will go on no sweat. As for tyres sizes for 18's thats about right.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Having taken another look at the manual it seems to make more sense this morning, I think this is what I should be looking at:

Sidmouth eh, you're just down the road!

If you want bigger wheels go for 18s, loads on here have 19 inch snowflakes, and from what I have read they are very easily damaged because the tyre is so thin, and also they tram line like hell. Have seen a few people trtying to sell 19s to go back to 17 inch wheels. You may be better just looking for a set of 17s that you like better than the standard SRi alloys. TBH I think 17 is big enough looking on a Veccy.

Mostly agree. 18's are a good compromise is size and comfort.
