Default crossovers! wheres the best place to buy? do i definatly need them?

Just got myself a amp & sub, which was a great bargain!

however still need to get a wiring kit

I am still debating weither to wire it to the door speakers rather than fitting more in the boot!

just wanted to know if i would definatly need to buy some crossovers for each door speak and where would be the best place to get them?

    Thanks

so no need for the crossovers?

i used to have 4 6x9's and a sub run off a 1000w amp direct a while back in my focus with no issues, just dont want to start burning things out

also would i have to dissconnect current wires from headunit to speakers?

Use the crossovers if you're using component speakers Paul, with the other question just snip the cable to the speakers then run them to the amp. Your best bet would be a nice set of front door speakers with tweeters and an amp in the boot. Coz you want the bass at the back of you and the higher ranges in the front.

do a proper job, use a mono/2 channel amp to a sub then use four channel amp and run new wiring into the doors and use some new door speakers that come with cross overs.

I wouldn't recomend using the original wiring to run off an amp its just not upto the job.

I will be doing the above job to the vec in the coming weeks now my 4 channel amp has arrived.

Sorry matey I didn't mean to say the original wire to the amp I should have made it clearer about using good cable for the speakers. The quality of the OEM cable wouldn't do justice to the sound. I would get a seperate amp for the sub too saves overloading the 1 amp.

I once let a "professional" car audio installer loose on my car ... who put 300w RMS through my front door wiring looms on a vec b and into a single 100W crossover.

needles to say it melted the door loom and set the X-overs on fire burning the door cards too.... lucky it never set the whole car on fire ..
