I have same car and had same problem a few months ago, there is a simular thread on here today! You need to take out your glovebox (3 torx screws in the top) to get at the heater unit at the bottom of the unit is the circut board in housing from what i remember there are 2 screws holding it onto the bottom and it slides out. Mine was badly corroded around the connections so I scraped it off and clean it up best i could and sprayed the connections with WD40 put it back togther and its worked ever since but someone on here was saying that theres was totally melted so you need to have a inspection.

Hi Chaps and a welcome to Vectracraig,

Strange you should have this problem, as guess what! I think I have the same problem. I own a 3.2 GSI with climate control and this morning temp below - 2 deg C started up with a frozen screen --- yep no blower. I got a funny buzzing noise for about 20 seconds and no air unfortunately I was expecting it as the blower was screeching on start up earlier this week but soon went quiet.

I had 2 nearside footwells of water several months ago and found the heater drain blocked with leaves and crud.

Its too cold to go out and remove the glove locker today and unfortunately I don't have much movement in my wrists anymore. (Old age)

So does anyone know whether the blower will be OK or is there a chance its burnt itself out or just ceased up.

I'm thinking of taking it to a VX dealer but dont really want them unnecessarily replacing the blower at usual astrominical costs.

Any one out there can advise.

I'm not sure from your posts if you're all aware or not, but in case you're not, your problems have arisen because the drain hole in front of the pollen filter got blocked, allowing water through the filter, and the water then damages the fan electrics. If your fan only works on setting 4 and not on 1-3, then you need to replace a green resistor, (£15-20ish on ebay), found by removing the glovebox. Here are further details:

    http://www.blower-motor-resistor.co....-resistor.html

Obviously the people who wrote the above want you to send them the resistor for repair, it's easier to just replace it. Here's one:

Not 100% sure - best thing to do is see if your car has the green resistor in place. If it's there, then it's highly likely that's the cause of the problem.

    Hi Colin

Just wondering how you got on, with the heater blower not working & no air coming out the vents.

Sounds like I have a similar problem to what you had, but I definitely have the same car

A 3.2 GSI with climate control

Found both passenger footwells filled with water and the heater blower not blowing out air on any heater setting (1-7)

Searched online and found this brilliant forum.

Cleared out the drain hole in front of the pollen filter & let loads of water out.

I been reading up on loads of pages about the fix for cars with Heater Settings 1-4
(with a thermal fuse on the Resister / changing blue/brown relays after taking out the glovebox)

But does the Climate Control version have a different fix?
