Dmf clutch price

Hi All,

I have a 2.2 Dti and need to replace the DMF clutch and cylinder. I have been calling around and the best price I can get for the parts is almost £700 (£800 from dealers!) ebay have a kit for £599 but still very expensive!

Any ideas of where I can get these parts any cheaper from?

I take it that the DMF is rattling.

I'm affraid the prices aren't gonna be much cheaper than that, although a second hand low mileage flywheel may be the answer as they very rarely go wrong on the DTi

Has it actually failed, or is it just rattly and noisey?

not so much rattling Clutch been on way out for ages but told by garage that whole lot needs replacing!

Try another garage

If the clutch is just slipping i'd have a second oppinion on the DMF as having to replace both is just nonsense if there is nothing wrong with it

What sort of mileage is the car on?

145,000 mate, its a taxi so up and down the gears all the way! Clutch not slipping but struggling for gears somtimes and develops a step in the pedal when it gets hot!

Just been to the dealers, been diagnosed with the dreaded DMF Death Rattle on my '05 1.9 cdti (120), they quoted me, (DMF, complete clutch) ..........£1900!!!!! however, the manager said he could probably get it down to £1750 and throw a courtesy car in !!! DAYLIGHT ROBBERY.

I spoke to Mr Clutch and he said £1000 all in.

My local garage who service my car annually say they will do the job for £820, that's a new flywheel, and clutch kit including slave cylinder.

Why oh why are these things so ****** expensive, they don't last forever and even the Dealership will only guarantee them for 12 months, somebody needs to get tooled up and make a killing, sooooon!
