    Default 159mph in a vectra

Just read in the news that PC Milton has been found guilty of doing 159mph in a vectra (wish mine could go that fast). However the PC will face no punishment for the crime of dangerous driving. This will no doubt give the PC the time to go out and do his job of catching criminals

If ya gonna train ppl to catch fast ppl then they gotsta practice in the field, if he's been trained at Cops Hatch raceway then I doub't he was doing that speed during a time zone where it would have been really dangerous.

I cant believe a fellow officer nicked him personally, if it'd been me I would have traced him and had a word, but to put a fellow officer through all this just to get another promotion tick is just mind boggling to me.

As a former speed freak I will say this though, to drive at that speed requires nerve and a red hot reflex on a public road, and you simply cannot drive that fast without ultimate concentration, which generally means even though you are shifting your brain is calculating on such a level you do see where the danger might come from, i.e you will see a car in the distance in lane 2, so if you are any good at high performance SAFE driving you would back off well in advance before that car arrives and pick it up again once passed it safely.

I understand that he was nicked when someone saw the in car video from the trip (runs all the time). Which scrote stitched him up, I wonder? The judge was in an uneviable position and by finding him guilty but giving him a discharge probably took the least worst option, hopefully leaving him free to still catch thieving scumbags.

Once did a true (based on RPM) 153MPH in my old 300ZX in France at 5AM and it scared me witless as well as being very noisy. Never again - leave it for the track or for the experts. Slower corners and the bits between them are much more fun than the straight bits - especially on a fireblade.........

I think that the judge was right to dismiss the case as the officer in question (not to mention his family) have been through enough.

He tried to claim he was familiarising himself with the car, but it should of been an official training session not just a blast in the car. I'd like to think that 'all' the police forces have now re-written the rules and regs for this type of thing.

His colleagues and bosses obvious highly rate this guy, so let's hope he gets re-instated very soon.

Agreed - I think he was less than clever is just going for a blast. Which is something that we would NEVER do of course............
