    Default Vectra replacement

Been off looking at cars today at arnold clarks. I had decided to get a basic corsa or something with brilliant mpg and had been tempted by a corsa black and white limited edition.

Then i thought sod it. I am behind the wheel for over 2 hours a day usually so another vectra is the way to go. I could afford a new insignia but with buying the house recently i dont want to be paying a lot in fianance.

The branch i was in had a 1.9cdti sri at 10495 and a 1.8 vvt design at 8999 which looked ok but i really want an sri as its easier to add the xp kit to and make my own. Got offered £1400 trade in for my 04 sri so will just sell seperately, prob try and get new car first then swap my 314 brakes, 18"s, HID's over.

Looking at the website there are a few 1.8vvt sri's at 6488 upwards for 08 plates or 08 plate 1.9cdti sri at 8488 in metro blue i like.

Big decision is whether its worth changing now or just keeping mine til it dies. I should gain about 200 miles a tank by changing which would save me a coupld of tanks of fuel a month nearly so would give the economy i want but then am i really saving by the time i add finance payments?

Swaying to just keeping doing mine up then in a year or so picking up a last of the line vectra and transferring the bits then. That way i can save the cash and we will have had a couple of years in the house to settle into the higher mortgage etc.

Looking at the consumption figures if i do change it comes down to whether the extra price will be worth it as theres not too much difference in consumption.

Gawd i hate making decisions where cars are concerned

If you're in the car for that amount of time I'd be staying away from the Corsa. Mine was a clapped out 1.0 litre but I went to look at a car in Preston about 35 - 40 miles away. Doing there and back burned through about a third of a tank of petrol. The cars might be smaller but they don't half have to work hard with the smaller engines.

how many miles has YOUR vec done? if you sell private say £2000, and buy the oil burner you are parting wth 8 grand,, now then,,, think how many miles you can travel for 8 grands worth of juice in your 04,, its a no brainer keep your 04. also small cars,,, conti is quite right, small cars are only better round town.

Mines has done 93000 miles. Only getting 29mpg at the moment which i suppose that isnt too brutal for a 2.2 petrol auto. Might be tempted by one of the 1.8's at £6.5k but definately not going to trade in. If i change i will sell privately

Keep it and run it to the ground, Look after it and it will last for years.

And pay the 8k off your mortgage and in a few years you will thank yourself for doing it.

Blimey,.. I must have got a right deal. I bought my May 08 plate 150 CDTi SRI in Jan 2009 for £8999!!! only had 8000 miles on too. Must be some better prices out there?...Or have I just been lucky?
