    Default Warning of postal scam

received this email this morning , please be aware

    Postal Scam:

Can you circulate this around especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it
has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making
people aware of the following scam:

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel
Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and
that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number).

DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will
already have been billed £315 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail
    Fraud on 020 7239 6655.

    You've been scammed!

Go on, give either of the numbers in the email a call...
Hint : Royal Mail do not have a fraud phone line!

Do what I do, don't get your mail delivered
Use mail collect and collect it once a week, no junk mail, no cards, no "attempted delivery"

lol, it was a scam, but it originates from 2005, and the number was disconnected way back then.. lol..

But, its always something to be vigilant about I suppose incase something like it happens again..

Those types of scam often come in cycles, once every 1-2 years, when people forget about them.

The premium rate phone number scam doesn't work any more - it used to be the case that someone could set up a premium line, trick people into calling it, and then they'd run off with the profit. Nowadays there's an intentional delay (about 30 days IIRC) between the number being called and the profits being available to the premium line owner, so that scam lines can be shut down at Ofcom's request before any money gets handed over to the criminals.

This ****** postal scam thing is getting silly now, whoever started it off again this year must be laughing their stupid heads off. Several police forces had to issue apologies because of their officers "warning" people about it, even the crimestoppers website had to issue a statement because it was put up on there at one point.

It even made it on to Sky news and they had to retract it LMAO
