When accelerating from about 1000rpm in any gear, there is a noise coming from under the bonnet. Any ideas. 2.2 petrol. Above and below this there is no noise.

bit more info needed i think m8 as cars dont rev under 1000 lol what sort of noise
The chain's on its way out mate, you'll need it looking at ASAP. bangty1, the 2.2 revs from 650 rpm.
what 650!!?!??!?!? ok i learn some thing new..................but bet you cant rev a car to 650 lol im just jokeing 650 what is it a lawnmower engine 650 lol still amazed
It had balancer shafts mate so it can rev lower without vibration.
No, it's not the chain noise, had them done 6000 miles ago. I suppose it's more of a rumble than a rattle. Could sound similar to a pulley vibration. It only appears at 1000rpm, when you pulling away etc.
