Does sound daft, but I've heard of something to do with anodes and drilling rigs, the anode rots instead of the rig, maybe some of our other members know more?

It seems a bit like glavenizing the zinc is to draw the corrosion from the mild steel the chemical reaction between the alloy wheels and the mild steel hubs generate corrosion in the aluminium, so maybe this would help, maybe it wouldn't

the zinc is there to protect the steel from oxidation or rust. it doesnt draw anything away from the steel as it is a protective barrier between the two.

Anode,s are fitted to most structures that spend time in fresh water as per the ones fitted on this canal boat that i worked on last year.
