It just looks like the contrast in between colour is greater on the Xbox.

It's because the ps3 is only 720 where the xbox is true 1080

Is this actually true? I ask because it was my understanding that only the PS3 is a true HD console. Early XBox 360's lacked a true HD connection, with only recent versions coming with a HDMI connection. The only other connector which will carry HD would be a PC style VGA connection and even that is analogue and lower quality.
