theres a really nice place called the blue bicylcle, there is also a tour that takes you under the street around a bit they dug up something to do with viking history if i remember right, that was good, there is a good gohst walk that starts outside the most haunted pub, its been a while since i been to york but its one of my favourite places

Id say the best place to stay would be http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/Y...ossom-st-north its a 5 - 10 min walk from the city centre but about the same to the railway museum as well. My old boss lived in hull but they paid for him to stay in this prem inn and all he did was go on about how nice it was and how good the service was.

another good place is http://www.mountroyale.co.uk/ it costs a bit more than the prem inn but its really nice inside and i think they do weekend deals.
now if you have a bit of money spare try google hotel du vin york its amazing but can cost a lot for the a few days i think.

    hope this helps alittle

Theres also the York Dungeon, which is quite good.

Just over the road from there, theres also Cliffords Tower and The Museum.
