Default Massive flatspot below 2000rpm, dpf? How to clean?

    Hi guys,

My car recently developed massive flat spot below 2000rpm. Sometimes can put foot to floor and nothing happens. Then suddenly goes like stink. There's no eml lights, and strangely less exhaust smoke? Runs perfect when on a blast..

I'm guessing DPF? Is there a how to for cleaning this as I'm quite mechanically minded, so fancy having a go!!!

    Cheers for any help!

    Mike

I'd be more inclined to say EGR

Or check the vacuum hoses, if the drop in performance is as bad, one of them may have split.

Don't you have the EDS map on the Vec MCD..?

If so, you may be able to sweet talk them into disabling the EGR.

As far as i was aware, the egr was disabled in the remap I have! That's what I asked, and what they told me?

Thing is, this isn't all the time, no real pattern to it, if it was the egr, wouldn't that be all the time?

    Cheers

Have you not checked the vacuum hoses they do cause the same issues if they are split, and if they are it is a £5 fix at worse.

If your EGR is disabled, then it shouldn't be that.

Like Gaz has said, could be a split/kink in one of the front vacuum pipes (this can be intermittent) - could it be a dodgy batch of fuel you have recently put in?

Do you actually have a DPF? Thought it was auto's/estates that had them.

Further to Dan's point do you? Check the door plate and there will be a number 0.5 or 1.20, if it is 1.20 you don't have a DPF and if it's 0.5 you do have a DPF.

It is known for some of the manual hatches to have DPF's but I think they are few though.

    Thanks guys!

Phoned Ian at mpg, he confirmed bypassed egr, but said he recons there's a sensor or summit on inlet manifold that gets completely caked up and can cause same issue?? Can't for the life of me find this? Has anyone a puc of where to look please? Pic or description? I can't remember a the instructions, but has an Allen key nut to undo?

In meantime, gonna bob out and check dpf numbers... Cheers!

    Mike
