I actually think MORE popular... look at the BMW 330D and 335D

Immense power, very popular cars ... and economical for the power delivery

    I'd like a 3 litre twin turbo 350 BHP / 550 Lb/ft 4x4 diesel thanks for around £16k

Yes, I think I would, as well - as long as they do an autobox version.

Yeah because the 2.0ltr twin turbo unit meant they couldn't justify it. Pity though, the 2.9 V6 was rumoured to have 247PS.

Sadly with the ever growing EU regulations regarding diesels they will end up becoming more expensive to keep on the road. You would have powerful deisels but they would be accompanied by complusory DPF's. Then there are the EGR valves, and both won't be helped with the high soot levels either.

Also I think he was talking about making the Zafira with a powerful deisel only.

That quote is out of context.

He's talking about the Zafira C (that'll be based on the Astra J Platform)

He says that the chassis for this car isn't stiff enough to handle VXR power, so they will have more powerful diesel versions in the Zafira as a result.

    The full quote is

No MPV's. Meriva has gone down a different path now, New Zafira and 300ps won't mix. So no VXR, but we may do some more powerful diesel versions in the future.
    Sorry to disappoint.
