Default Auto climate control fan speed....

My wifes car seems cold at the moment, the temp is set to 26 and its still not warm.... the CC is set to AUTO with the little red light on but the fan never seems to come on or show on the screen... so she ends up over riding it and putting the fan on manually, then it gets warm.

I know when the car is cold the fan will be low or not on till there is warm air to blow round but she drove 35 miles and it still wasnt showing any fan speed on auto... if i turn temp to HI/LOW then fan kicks in

Ive checked the manual and the CONFIG setup and everything is selected as it should be....

Does everyone elses fan speed alternate on AUTO or is ours knackered... going in again next week for new heated seat matrix so would be good to know....

    Thanks

What temp is the engine reading?

If the CC thinks that the engine is cold it wont turn the fans up.

My Signum kicks out hot air after about half a mile, and thats a big 3.2 lump!

There should be a way of resetting the CC system, did this on my old omega to sort out the fans playing up. Resetting the system may help you too.

Could be one of the CC temp sensors is also dodgy?

I know you've checked the Config settings but there is a option to set the fan speed to low, medium and high. I think it's in the comfort settings. Factory setting on mine was medium but I've set to high.

The car gets warm very quickly and I end up turning the CC down after a few miles so I don't have the same issue.

Just to be clear on what climate control should do...

You set the temp, if the car engine is not up to temp fans stay on low.

Then fans speed up and cabin temp changes.

Once temp is reached fans slow down.

If you change the temp the fans will speed up until the temp is reached.

If you select HI/LO temp the fans will go straight to speed six/seven no matter what temp the engine/cabin is.

I understand how it should work and the settings required but it doesnt seem to work correctly unless you change manually.... my Alfa is the same the fan speed speeds up/down until temp is reached and then slows down but the one in the Insignia doesnt seem to, it used to im sure but i dont drive often enough to check....hence my question, ive also noticed the lights dont come on anymore when i unlock in a morning in the garage....

Thanks for the suggestions will try these later...

I have noticed that the windscreen is misting up as well, probably again because the fan isnt working.... all pipes were checked last week when it was in.
