im sure you can do it with bottle nose pliers mate. the piston has a thread if you just pushed it in youd knacker the thread and it would be ne caliper time im afraid.HTH
I tried it mate, was an accident with my hand waiting to happen. Borrowed my neighbours windback tool. As simplesi says you cant push them in they are threaded.
i managed it once with some long nose pliers, but the next time i went to have a go on my own car it would not work so I bought the tool, it was annoying having to buy it but it did wind it back in seconds easily...
ah **** what about the fronts ? have they got a thread ?
No, you can push them back in. Buy a wind back tool, you'll never need to buy one again. Definatly on my list of things to buy, cheap off ebay, less than £30 these days.
ok thanks guys how much is the tool and where would i buy one from. or may see if my local garage will lend me one.
got my answer as i was typing

BINGO!!!!! HOW MUCH!!!! £28 bargain!!!People pay more that that for a gallon of oil, that tool will last you a lifetime.
