    Default De-cat tomorrow morning!

    Evening all.

The car is being de-catted tomorrow morning. What sort of gain do people get from having the cat removed? Or in the instance of mine because the rest of the exhaust is a bit past it, just having the insides of the box knocked out. Mine's a 2.2 DTi. Thanks.

I don't have the ramps or the tools to get the box off though. I would if I could do!

Sounds good, read in another thread someone else had done it to a 2.0 DTi and said it felt more torquey and had a bit more grunt to it. Hope this goes the same way.

Better still, insurance didn't increase the premium!

I haven't been able to find anywhere that would just put a pipe in. I must have tried 7 or 8 places now. We shall see what state the box is in tomorrow though. I'm going to hang around and see what they think is best. If it's basically rust I'm sure they'll have some pipe kicking around.

And it's done! The garage that said they could do it changed their mind but recommended me what used to be Peco Exhausts in Birkenhead. I popped the car down there and they made up a pipe for it. What a difference! It seems to rev much quicker and really seems to have more pull to it. Would really recommend anyone to go and get their own done there if they live up this way.

Not much really, can hear the turbo spooling and dumping more but that's it. A little smoke on full throttle but hardly any more than usual. I just can't get over how different it's made the car feel. It's certainly got its mojo back! Tempted to go back in the future and get the centre box taken out too.

It should be fine because diesels are tested differently than petrols. The emissions will be slightly higher but nothing to worry about. It appears to be smoking less thinking about it. The guy did say the box was gunked up inside.
