Anyone sprayed wd40 or plus gas into inlet manifold

wrt 1.9 CDTI, has anyone ever tried spraying a little plus gas or wd40 in the inlet manifold through the throttle body and directing the spray in the direction of the swirl valves and EGR area (with the manifold in situ)? Just a thought to lubricate the moving parts, especially in the early ones that can have siezed swirl flaps.

I would have thought that an oil based substance is the last thing you would be wanting to put into your EGR and Swirl flaps/manifold area.There seems to be more than enough oil getting there as it is,that is what is causing all the EGR and manifold problems experienced by members in the first place.(Look at your swirl bar and the valve seats,is there an oily crud around the valve?,if there is,this is oil from the vapour/mist that's coming from the crank case via your oil separator and intercooler).Try searching the various posts about crank case ventilation,EGR valve,swirl bar,swirl pots etc,etc,and you will see what I mean.

as the WD40 may conjeal and cause more problems. You shouldn't spray anything into the inlet manifold for that matter.

WD40 is mostly solvent, it's actual oil content is VERY low. It's great for cleaning carburettors, It's actually recommend for this use..... so I don't see why it would be any less great for inlet manifolds, throttle bodies or anything in the vicinity.

Wouldn't the solvent then wash the oil off the cylinder bores? Just asking not sure and wouldn't it cause a bit of a potential misfire

Maybe better using a contact cleaner instead of WD,then you know there is NO oil whatsoever going in there.FELIXX.

Just to add,contact cleaner is alcohol based,so shouldn't present any problems or cause "issues".FELIXX.

But,like Gazza says,you shouldn't be spraying anything into your intake.Just think of all the bits that you may dislodge.They are then re-ingested into the system and have to make their way past your turbo blades.Think about it,you could be opening up a whole load of problems without realizing it.FELIXX.
