    Default Car dillema time

Starting to hit boom or bust time with the veccy. Cars done 93k now and i really could do with better economy. Cant decide whether to buy a new more economical car or do the stuff the veccy needs and run it till it drops.
I have some goodies which i bought but have yet to fit, irmy steering wheel, mats chrome heater rollers, vxr air intake and some bits. Need to refurb my wheels, fit some new suspension bits and want to get some xp bits and new exhaust system if i keep her so if i do that lot i really will need to keep and can i justify that expense on a high mileage 6 year old motor?

    Ah decisions decisions.

A later 1.9 CDTI? I stress later as the earlier ones have their issues, but I say the 1.9 for performance purposes balanced with great fuel economy and tuning potential.

I had £1,200 worth but mine is a 54 plate. But reliability is a big issue to be fair.

A salesman i know said i would be better looking at a 1.8vvt. Naff performance but reasonably economical, well better than the 2.2 auto lol

Suppose if i keep doing the vectra up i can get another in future and transfer things like alloys but have even been looking at a new corsa limited edition black and white. Sad i know lol

Iirc you have an auto 2.2 don't you Graeme.

If you were to get a post 2007 cdti auto you'd be eliminating most of the main faults associated with them (DMF, 3rd injector and swirl flaps) leaving only the DPF as a big expense to "worry" about. But DPF's don't have that a large failure rate tbh

Might be an option, manual would be the way i think only plumped for auto last time due to the manual one that came up in my range had had a minor accident and i decided to plump for the auto lol.

Cheers for the input guys. May be irrelivent as the missus may do nasty things if i consider a car change so soon after the house move

Nothing stopping you fitting the steering wheel though as it's a 10 min job (if that)
