    Default CIM Problem, BUT....

    Howdy peeps.

I have what i suspect to be the dreaded cim problem on my 2003 2.2dti. Its exibiting all the usual symptoms i.e. dial droppping out and electricals shutting down in various places/times/stages. However, when i plug it in, the only recuring fault code i get is that of the ambient temperature sensor, nothing along the lines of can bus interface etc.. which i was expecting. Its also interesting to note that it seems to only missbehave when cold, i.e. by the time im out of town and onto the motorway the car behaves itself. Am i clutching at straws here or could there be something in this temperature issue? Is it worth getting to the cim and cleaning the plugs/contacts/repositioning it to try and negate any issues which have come from it sitting in the same place too long? Any advice would be much appreciated.

P.S. sorry if these questions have been posted before but i cant search for CIM as it says word too small/too many results!

Have you checked the ABS plug on the ABS pump under the bonnet? A few suggested that could be a problem when I had my CIM issue. I never tried cleaning mine as it cleared itself, worth a look.

A better way to search this is via google. Type
    PHP Code:
    CIM site:www.vectra-c.com
    directly into a google search.

thanks for your reply. I have looked at the plug and everything is present with no sign of corrosion etc. Also, the abs light never comes on nor does it have any codes stored in relation to that. Dunno if that makes a difference?

I know this might sound stupid but........I used to get a "buzzing" noise coming from the dash which was temp related. The radio, heater blower air con ciggy lighter everything in that area would shut down.It was intermittent and was driving me mad.In the end,in desperation,I managed to traced it to the end of the dash fuse box.It was the 30 amp fuse,(the orange one),it hadn't blown,it must have had worn blades or something,so I changed it with the one in the boot fuse box and hey presto job sorted.
Now I'm not saying it will cure your problem but it is worth having a try.FELIXX.

cheers i'll give that a go. Has anyone yet fitted their own CIM with the aid of a tech2 session? I'm always up for paying someone else other than the stealers if it can be done by one of the fine chaps of vectra-c.com!
