    Default Cdti fuel filter ring

I had my car serviced at the dealers a month ago,i decided yesterday to try some wynns clean up in the fuel filter housing,to try and cure my slight misfire from cold on number 4 injector,i removed the filter lid, poured in the wynns and replaced the lid again,i took it for a drive like it said on the tin,and nearlly lost the back end of the car at very low speeds on the round abouts and my fuel guage had moved from half a tank to nearly a quarter in a short time and there was a smell of diesel,so home i went very carefully and left the car parked up all night.
I went out today to check the problem,i noticed yesterday that the filter housing o ring was too big for the housing, like it had stretched,do you think this was not replaced on the service or are they meant to be slack and also my fuel filter didn't look brand new,it has a dark ting to it,which i thought was a bit strange in a short period of time.

I agree with everything you said,i thought it was strange being dark already and the ring was a right pain to get back in being so slack and its still leaking, its going back to the dealers tommorrow

Out of interest does the fuel additive tell you that you can add it directly into the fuel filter? Just wonder if the additive has reacted with the rubber

Its the first time i've used a dealers for my servicing as i have an extended marshall warranty with this, which i found out isn't worth the paper its written on when i put it in for diagnostics and got told i needed 4 new injectors and marshall saying they are not covered ,hense me trying the wynns clean up.

Yes John the directions say it mate, its in a pull top tin and you add it straight into the fuel filter housing and go for a brisk drive (i just keep it in lower gears)
And my fuel filter was dark even before i added the additive and the o ring was already baggy.
I 've used the wynns clean up before and it works a treat
My uncle got told by citreon that he needed a new fuel pump, common rail system and injectors when his van was playing up,so i put a can of wynns clean up in and it fixed his problems, and that was well over 12 months ago.

My injector plugs have blue connectors on them,so i thought its not them, and my car has already had a new inlet.
I had new glow plugs put in on the service,as the spanner light was staying lit for a little while when cold, and opcom said glow problem.
I tried driving it with egr unplugged and it was still the same, but i leave the egr unplugged for a better low down pick up anyway
And so far so good,i've got a good relationship with the stealers
