    Default CD70 input

Is it possible to connect a line-in into the CD70 Nav unit to hook up an MP3 player? If so then how do you get access to the rear of the unit to connect it up?

Phil, I can't answer this but I suspect it must be as the unit has a setting in it's audio menu for auxilary ... I assume designed for mobile phone hands free kits but don't see why couldn't be used for an MP3 player?? Do the TIS discs cover stuff like this? I really must get some of these.

    Thanks for the advice.

Does anyone know how you can gain access to the rear of the unit or have a picture/diagram of the rear of the unit so I can see what connections are possible?

    Phil,

Never done it but from what I understand you remove the four very small black grub screws from each corner using a small allen key ... very easy to lose - be careful! I had to strip the centre console to get one back when I had a play!

Then you need a pair of removal tools which you insert into the four holes and simply pull.

There look like the ones you need VX Radio Removal Keys From Ebay

If the CD70 is on the quadlock plug which I guess it is you do have an input for a handsfree phone kit. The input is only a mono input & will be played through your two front speakers in mono, to activate thhe input between normal radio/cd & input you need to ground out the mute wire on the back of the radio also, this will mean having to have a switch inline to flick everytime you want to use it, when you ground the mute wire, rather than display saying something sensilbe like "PHONE" as that what it's there for it will say "EXTERNAL IN" which for what you want is ideal.

I also have the pins which will push into the plug in the quadlock plug to route the audio in.

In all honesty it's not the best way of routing an external source in as it only plays in mono & out of two speakers.

I was hoping to be able to use a 3.5mm jack or L&R RCA connectors to get proper stereo sound rather than using the handsfree connection.

Has anyone tried this and is it possible?
